F.A.Q.- Frequently Asked Questions
What is Amherst Technology TV? The Amherst Middle Technology TV program strives to develop effective communication and technical skills, while promoting teamwork to create and deliver high quality video news programming to our school community. Our major focus is producing a live daily broadcast, along with creating pre-recorded segments and other specialty video productions throughout the school year. What is an “internship”? Simply put, an internship is a job where you “learn as you go”. Although helpful, no prior experience is necessary to become a student Tech TV intern. What will I do during my Tech TV internship? Your internship opportunity will include many aspects of TV news production. Along with the members of your crew, you will rotate among various jobs. You may also experience script writing, selecting graphics and music, camcorder operation, formatting graphics, directing, working with digital photography, setting up lighting, checking microphone levels, designing chromakey (green-screen) backgrounds, producing custom DVDs, and much more. When do I show up? There are five morning Tech TV crews, one for each day of the week. Everyone is assigned onto one crew, however you may come any day and fill in as needed. You absolutely need to show up on your assigned day between 8:15-8:30am so we can prepare and rehearse for our live broadcast. It is your responsibility to notify Mr. Zdrojewski if you are unable to meet on your day. What time do I show up? Arrive before the 8:30am deadline for job signups. Students who are consistently late or absent will be required to give up their position so another student may participate in their place. Who is eligible to participate in a morning internship? Morning Tech TV internships are available to any interested student, with preference given to 8th grade students if there are more applicants than available positions. How long will my morning internship last? There are many factors that will determine the length of a Tech TV internship experience. The goal is to provide internship opportunities to as many students as possible, therefore we may need to limit the duration of internships to allow for additional students to participate.
