Athlete of the Week Nomination - Week 4

Sophie Schwartz is the only player on the team that has played Varsity Tennis for 5 years. She has been our 2nd singles player for the last 3 years. She has a match record of 10-3 this year, beating some very good players. She will be representing us at ECIC's as our first doubles entrant. She has been playing above and beyond expectations this entire season, but especially this week. She has won all three matches without giving up a game and has done so on one foot. She has painful tendinitis in her foot that would stop most people from playing. She has worked with our trainers and had her foot wrapped daily. She still goes out there and plays with grit. She does not complain and she has been playing lights out as of late. Her teammates love her and both of her parents have been huge supporters of the tennis program. Her mother has been our parent liaison for 5 years now - longer than anybody else. Sophie is sweet, hard working and has tremendous talent on the court. Off the court, she is social, easy to coach and always there, ready to work with a smile on her face. Her record as a second singles player puts her up with the elite players in Section 6. She has a very good chance of playing well enough at ECICs to qualify for Sectionals this year. I highly recommend that she be considered for our Athlete of the Week program for 9/26/22-9/30/22.
