iCOMP 1 - INTRO TO COMPUTERS AND APPLICATIONS

Prerequisite:  None

3 SUNY Credit Hours Optional through ECC’s Advanced Studies Program

(Optional college credit enrollment is recommended for advanced freshman/sophomores or juniors/seniors.)

Satisfies graduation requirement in Practical Arts or Computer, but not both

 

Students will acquire hands on experience using Google Docs and the Microsoft Office Professional suite of products (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint).  Concepts will be taught emphasizing the creation of professional looking documents for use in high school, college, and the world of work.  Computer hardware/software, digital citizenship, and computer safety concepts will also be covered.  Students may opt to earn three (3) units of SUNY credit for this course through ECC’s Advanced Studies Program at a reduced tuition rate for the DA 106 – Introduction to Microcomputer Applications course.  Course credits are transferable to most colleges and universities throughout the country as long as the student maintains at least a grade of 75% or higher.
