This program gives students a first-hand opportunity to gain insight into the skills and educational requirements of a career prior to entering college. It also gives students the opportunity to work through the internship process to gain a better understanding of internships before entering a college internship program.  In order to gain credit for this non-paid internship experience, students choose a career area of interest and complete 54 hours at the internship site with 27 hours of related classroom instruction.  Students need to provide their own transportation to and from their placements. Students will also have scheduled class meetings that fulfill the 27 hours of classroom instruction. Students who choose to enroll in this elective course are expected to demonstrate a high level of responsibility and commitment appropriate for the workplace. Characteristics such as honesty, integrity, ethics, teamwork, and a positive attitude are expected. Applications to enroll in this program may be obtained from the Student Services Department and will be reviewed by the Internship Coordinator.
