    Satisfies graduation requirement in Social Studies

         

    This course is designed to provide developmental and reinforcement activities for students requiring extra structure and drill to meet the new NYS Regents Learning Standards.  Students will demonstrate an understanding and relevance of democratic values in U.S. history; the influence of ideas, individuals, institutions and groups, and significant writings of constructive methods for bringing about social change in American society.  They will apply analysis and critical thinking skills as they express a variety of viewpoints.  Students will also use their skills and knowledge in the analysis and/or construction of maps, graphs, political cartoons, and other primary sources. The course culminates with the US History Regents Exam.
