• The District recognizes the importance of educational stability for students in foster care and will collaborate, as appropriate, with the State Education Department and the Local Department of Social Services (LDSS) to ensure that students in foster care have the same opportunity to achieve at high-levels as their peers. The LDSS, in consultation with the appropriate local educational agency, will determine whether placement in the school district of origin or the school district of residence is in the best interest of a student in foster care. Our District will work with the LDSS to make the best interest determination as quickly as possible in order to prevent educational discontinuity for the student.
