Virtual Learning Support Centers
Erie County has been working with local child care organizations, providers, school districts and community organizations to create Virtual Learning Support Centers (VLSCs). VSLCs will provide school-aged children, ages 5-12, a safe and supervised environment that allows students to engage in virtual learning. Everyone involved in the opening of the VLSCs are working together to ensure that they are operating in accordance with regulations set by New York State’s re-opening plans and by the Erie County Department of Health.
Paying for child care can be difficult for some families. The Erie County Department of Social Services has put temporary measures in place to help people pay for child care. Now through Dec. 31, 2020, VSLCs will be free for parents/guardians earning less than 85% of the state median income. Further details about income requirements can be found in the county’s Virtual Learning Center Guide.
If interested, parents/guardians should directly contact the VLSC providers to inquire about securing a slot.
