    Satisfies graduation requirement in Practical Arts

    3 SUNY Credit Hours Optional through ECC’s Advanced Studies Program.

    (Students must have Junior/Senior status to enroll for college credit.)

     

    Students will develop an understanding of their rights and responsibilities as they pertain to our legal system.  Topics covered will include the legal environment, criminal and civil law, contracts, negotiable instruments, consumer protection, bailments, marital law, and wills and estate planning.  Students will also learn about the procedures for arrests, warrants, search and seizures, arraignment, jury duty, and what happens during trials.  Members of this class will also participate in a mock trial to show off their legal skills.
