Things to Know at Smallwood

  • New for 2018-19 School Year! There are changes to the Health Examination requirements that will take effect July 1, 2018 for your child. New York State has changed the grade level requirements to include all students entering the school district for the first time, those entering Pre-K or K, 1st, 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th and 11th grade, will need a health examination physical. The examination must be completed by a New York State licensed physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner, and presented to school within 30 days of entering school. Physicals are valid if performed no sooner than 12 months prior to the first day of school of the year in which it is required.

  • Did you know? Representative teachers participate in district-wide curriculum committees focusing on English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Technology.  Information and learning obtained from these meetings are then disseminated to all faculty and staff.  Additionally, we have added STEAM Mondays for all students co-taught by our Library Media Specialist and our Enrichment Teacher and are piloting Tech Tuesdays taught in collaboration with our district-wide Technology Integration Specialist and our Library Media Specialist.
