Amherst Central High School has been approved to offer New York State Education Department’s prestigious Technical Endorsement for four sequences:  Accounting, Marketing, Computer Information Sciences, and Hospitality/Tourism for both Regents and Advanced Regents Diploma bound students.  The sequences offered appear on the next page.

The Career and Technical Education Department is organized to serve several vital roles:

    1. To provide a foundation for success in college.
    2. To provide an opportunity to obtain college credit while in high school.
    3. To develop the Career Development and Occupational Studies and Parenting NYS Learning Standards.
    4. To foster the development of learning experiences that will help students become informed citizens and consumers.
    5. To promote career exploration.

The courses offered are used to meet the 1 unit practical arts requirement for graduation. If a computer class is used to meet the computer requirement, it cannot also be used to meet the practical arts requirement.

“No student shall on the basis of gender, race, color, national origin, disability or age, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or otherwise be subject to unlawful discrimination under any career and technical education program or activity.”
