    How the Pantry Began:

The Amherst Central School District, in partnership with St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Eggertsville and FeedMore WNY (formerly the Food Bank of WNY) offers a collaborative food pantry. Families who qualify in the 14226 zip code (regardless if they have children attending the school district) and the 14221 zip code (if their children are enrolled at ACSD) are eligible for pantry services.

Based at St. Paul's Church Lutheran Church at 4007 Main Street, the Tiger's Den Food Pantry allows families to enroll in the pantry program and choose boxed, canned and perishable food items once a month. Th
e pantry began as an existing food-to-home program for two families at one elementary building and expanded into a collaborative food pantry serving families in the Town of Amherst.

Student Athletes Assist at Pantry Student Athletes sort donations School officials continuously make efforts to reach needy families who have children attending Amherst schools. This is done with the help of our social workers. During the annual kindergarten screening, every incoming family is apprised of the pantry.

The integration of the Tiger’s Den Food pantry within all of our schools has created a stronger community among staff, students and our families. We have unions, family members, and students leading the way through fundraising efforts and a devotion of their time and money to the ultimate success of this pantry. In 2017, the Tiger's Den Food Pantry was designated as the Amherst Middle School year-long service learning project.

Excellence in Collaboration plaque and statue The Tiger's Den Food Pantry project was the recipient of the 2018 Excellence in Collaboration award from the Erie County Association of School Boards.
