Planning Process

  • Amherst Central School District has formed six reopening committees representing Smallwood, Windermere, Amherst Middle, Amherst High, districtwide teaching/learning and districtwide social/emotional.

As a team, the committees have developed well articulated, thoughtful plans for the return to school that covers three scenarios: onsite and in-person instruction, a remote learning model, and a hybrid of in-person/remote. With 100 plus members representing the community, students, parents, board of education, teachers and staff, the stakeholder committee members are refining the plans in the areas of health and safety, social and emotional learning, and teaching and learning

We have received guidance from the state and work will continue through the summer to finalize the plan.
