Budget and Election 2026-27

Budget and Election is Tuesday, May 19, 2026 from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Amherst Central High School south gymnasium.


Absentee Ballots

Absentee ballots are available for the Amherst Central School District vote.  A District voter must request an application for an absentee ballot in advance of the vote date. The voter must complete the application and state the reason they will not be able to appear in person on the day of the District election/vote for which the absentee ballot is requested. A qualified voter in the district may use an absentee ballot if, on voting day, he or she is a patient in a hospital or unable to appear personally because of illness or physical disability; is required to be outside the country because of duties, occupation or studies; is on vacation outside the country; or is detained in jail awaiting action conviction of an offense other than a felony. The application must be received by the District Clerk at least seven (7) days before the election/vote if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter, or the day before the election/vote if the ballot is to be delivered personally to the voter.

Upon receipt and approval of the application, a ballot will be mailed. The completed ballot must be received by the District Clerk by 5 p.m. on May 19, the day of the vote. Voter Eligibility

To qualify as a voter, a person must be:

  • a citizen of the United States
  • at least 18 years old
  • a resident of Amherst Central School District for at least 30 days prior to the vote.(Education Law § 2012)

Apartment dwellers who meet these qualifications are eligible. No prior registration is required and residents do not have to be registered voters. (Education Law § 2012)


Board of Education Election

There will be three board seats on the May 19, 2026 ballot.
