Adam Wierbinski Named Assistant Principal at Amherst Central High School

Adam Wierbinski, an Amherst Central High School social studies teacher, was appointed assistant principal at Amherst Central High School by the Board of Education on June 2, 2026. He will assume his new role on July 1, 2026.

A dedicated educator with eight years of classroom experience, Mr. Wierbinski has spent the last three years at Amherst Central High School. During that time, he has taught a diverse range of social studies courses—from AP and Honors to Non-Regents—covering Global History, Economics, and U.S. Government and Politics, Civics in Action. His expertise in curriculum design, data-driven instruction, and project-based learning has been instrumental in meeting the varied needs of our students while fostering a supportive school culture.

Before joining Amherst, he taught at Holland Central Middle School, Greenwich Central High School where he served as history department chair and Saratoga Springs City High school.

He attended the University at Albany SUNY where he earned a master’s degree in secondary education, a bachelor’s degree in history and was a Division 1 football player as an undergraduate. He earned his School Building Leadership certification from SUNY Plattsburgh.

Mr. Wierbinski succeeds assistant principal Patrick Kapperman, who was appointed principal of Amherst Central High School in May.
