    About the Girls Junior Varsity Volleyball Program

    The junior varsity (JV) volleyball season is focused on further developing the skills that have been taught to players during their time on the modified team. The JV team's players are being trained and prepared to move up to the varsity level and be able to compete at a higher level. At this level players are competitive but still in the developmental stages of their careers with hopes to potentially seek out opportunities to further their careers to play in college and potentially receive scholarships.
     
    The girls JV volleyball season requires players to be well conditioned in order for them to be able to compete in a match from start to finish and potentially be moved up to the varsity program. We stress the importance of fitness and nutrition to our players; in order to be successful in the sport of volleyball a player must exude strong stamina and endurance and with that comes making sure they are exercising consistently and consuming the proper foods in order to perform at their maximum and best capability. For anyone that is interested in joining the volleyball program it is strongly recommended that you workout and get some volleyball touches daily.  We recommend attending as many summer opportunities as possible to gain volleyball touches whether it be through private lessons, camps or open gyms around the area. 
     
    The volleyball program as a whole requires our athletes to be peek performers in the classroom and on the court. Students must be able to manage their schoolwork load in order to participate on the team. We have practices or games everyday after school during the week, with some tournaments on the weekends; and all players are required to attend every practice and game. We expect our athletes to work hard at all times and be responsible and positive influences on and off the court!
     
     
     
     
    Fall-2 JV Tryout Information
     
    Dates/ Times:
    3/22/20: 5:00-6:30pm (Middle School Gym) - Tryouts
    3/24/20: 5:00-6:30pm (Middle School Gym) - Tryouts
    3/25/20: 57:30-9pm (Middle School Gym) - Tryouts 
     
     
    Requirements:
    • Each athlete is required to attend all three days of tryouts. If there are any conflict dates with the tryouts please contact both the athletic department and I to make arrangements.
    • All athletes need to be signed up through the Fall-2 sign up through their Aspen account by March 18th, 2021.
    •        Please come prepared with: a mask, appropriate workout attire, running sneakers, court sneakers, a water bottle and ready to work hard!
     
    Coaching Staff
    Coach: Brittany Murdie  
     

    Coach Murdie graduated from Lancaster High School in 2009 where she helped lead the team to win a state championship; also receiving the honors of being named on the All WNY team after the fall 2008 and 2009 seasons. She went on to continue her volleyball career as the starting libero for Buffalo State College; in which she graduated with a bachelors in Physical Education and a Minor in Coaching.

    Coach Murdie began coaching right after she graduated high school for the Lancaster summer camp to help the younger generation of the Lancaster volleyball program excel and hold the maintain the status as one of the top volleyball programs in WNY. To further fulfill her passion for the game, in 2012 she was named the assistant coach for the Lancaster Modified girls Volleyball team; leaving her role for the modified program in 2014 she was named the assistant coach for the Lancaster JV Volleyball, where stayed for 2 years. Murdie then ventured outside of Lancaster and continued her coaching career at West Seneca East Middle School as their head modified coach for the fall 2015 & 2016 seasons. In 2018 she was named the head JV girls volleyball coach for Amherst Central High School. Coach Murdie also gained her club coaching experience at NFVB, where she coached for 3 years before venturing out to start TVA.
