Welcoming a New Assistant Principal-Dean of Students
Amherst Central High School welcomes Scott Lawniczak to his new position as Assistant Principal-Dean of Students. He began work July 9.
Originally from Lancaster, he has spent the majority of his career in education with the Batavia City School District. While there, he served as a high school social studies classroom teacher and per diem assistant principal, as well as a K-12 humanities chairperson and instructional coach. He earned a bachelor's degree in history from SUNY Geneseo. He earned a master's degree in secondary social studies education and a certificate of advanced study in educational leadership from Buffalo State College. Over the years, he has served as a coach and advisor for a variety of sports and extracurricular activities including basketball, tennis, football and student government. In addition to following the Buffalo Bills, he and his wife and son enjoy biking, swimming and hiking. The 2018-19 school year marks his eleventh year in education.
"Amherst has an incredible tradition of pride, inclusiveness and achievement, and I am excited to involve myself in helping our school community continue to grow and improve," he said. "I am steadfast in my belief that my role as a leader is to support teachers, put students and their well-being at the forefront of all decisions, empower parents and engage all stakeholders in the ACHS community to fulfill this mission."
Lawniczak fills the position left vacant July 1 when Tim Wiles assumed a new position as principal at Cleveland Hill High School in Cheektowaga.
