Seven Amherst Central High School students represented the district at the NYSSMA All-State Conference held at the Eastman School of Music and the Riverside Convention Center in Rochester. Students from all over New York audition for All-State at the end of the previous academic year, and must score a 100 on their prepared NYSSMA All-State Level VI (most difficult) solo and spontaneous sight-reading excerpt to be considered for acceptance. "For these musicians, this is the highest honor music educators can grant in New York, the opportunity to go to All-State," said Justin T. Pomietlarz, director of choral activities at Amherst Central High School.
