International Composer-Conductor Visits with ACHS Concert Chorale
An internationally renown composer-conductor Dr. Z. Randall Stroope spent time this week with the Amherst Central High School concert chorale who will help premiere one of Dr. Stroope’s works at the Choirs of America concert at Carnegie Hall in April.
Dr. Stroope, who is the Director of Choral and Vocal Studies at Oklahoma State University, was in town to conduct the ECMEA Senior High All-County Honors Chorus at the University of Buffalo. Justin Pomietlarz, director of choral activities at ACHS and chairperson of the choir for ECMEA, reached out to Dr. Stroope to see if he would be willing to visit with Amherst students.
The Amherst Chorale will be one of eight choirs from around the U.S. working on a world-premiere piece composed by Dr. Stroope for the Choirs of America April 26 performance at New York City’s Carnegie Hall.
