Ani Gribbin Chosen for All-Eastern Honors Ensemble

Ani Gribbin stands on stage at ACHS Ani Gribbin, a junior at Amherst Central High School, was chosen to perform in the National Association for Music Education 2019 All-Eastern Honors Ensemble. As part of a performing group of 150 student band musicians from schools across the eastern U.S., Ani spent three days rehearsing with one of five conductors during the Eastern Division Conference of the NAfME in preparation for performances on April 7 in the Spirit of Pittsburgh Ballroom at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, Pittsburgh, Pa.

“This is a pretty big deal. In my 24 years at Amherst Central High School, there have only been seven students that were selected and five have been band students,” said Craig Incontro, Director of ACHS Bands and Music Department Chair.

Ani is a first chair clarinetist and president of the Amherst Wind Ensemble. She was chosen as first chair clarinetist for the NYSSMA All Conference Wind Ensemble and the ECMEA All County Band.

In this biennial event, the NAFME All-Eastern Honors Ensembles consist of a concert band, symphony orchestra, mixed chorus, treble chorus, and jazz ensemble, organized by members of te NAfME. The concert band and symphony orchestra will each have approximately 150 instrumentalists, the jazz ensemble will have 18 instrumentalists, the treble chorus will have 120 vocalists, and the mixed chorus will have approximately 320 vocalists.
