Alexander Klee, a senior at Amherst Central High School, is a 2020 National Merit Scholarship semifinalist. The National Merit Scholarship Program honors individual students who show exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies. Nationwide, 16,000 semifinalists were chosen.
Alex is one of 70 high school seniors in the Buffalo and Rochester region that earned the distinction by taking the PSAT exam through the National Merit Scholarship competition program. In Western New York, he is one of 29 semifinalists. He has the opportunity to continue in the competition as a finalist for a National Merit Scholarship which is announced in the spring.
Alex will study civil engineering and has not yet decided where he will attend college. At ACHS he is a member of the varsity track and field team and the cross-country team. He is one of the founding members of the Dungeons and Dragons club and serves as secretary of the club.
