Career & Tech Education Sets Junior on Her Career Path

student in classroom settingACHS Junior Shelby Neish is enrolled in the Health Careers program at Erie 1 BOCES Kenton Career and Technical Center.

“I enrolled in BOCES because I want to get a job as a Certified Nursing Assistant. In only two short months I have learned so much already. I am very excited to retain more and see what the rest of the year holds for me,” Shelby said.

In the fall of 2023, following graduation, Shelby plans on attending the University of Buffalo or Daemen College’s Physician’s Assistant program to become a physician assistant.

She has learned about health care, taking care of people and more.

“Shelby is always eager to learn. She demonstrates leadership qualities and is very active in class discussions. All of her work is turned in on time and she follows the rubrics. Her average is a 99% and she has missed zero days of class,” said Jonnie O’Connor, her instructor.

“This program has provided me an advantage to reach my goals by giving me a foundation for college and allowing me to have hands-on experiences,” Shelby said.
