Karen Kibler Named ACHS Assistant Principal Dean of Students
The Amherst Central School District has named Karen Kibler, an English Language Arts Teacher at McKinley High School in Buffalo as the new assistant principal dean of students at Amherst Central High School, effective Aug. 22, 2022. Her appointment was approved by the Board of Education Aug. 9, 2022. She will fill the position left vacant by Heather Krystofiak who was named principal at Silver Creek Elementary School.
Ms. Kibler’s leadership experience at McKinley includes chairing the Tier 1 Intervention committee where she collaborated with colleagues to implement a plan to decrease student tardiness. As curriculum lead teacher for the ELA department, she disseminated new curriculum requirements and worked with colleagues to align curriculum, as well as assist in the implementation of district initiatives to improve literacy skills.
She has been at McKinley High School since 2012. Her previous work experience includes teaching ELA at East High School and at Math, Science and Technology Preparatory School. She also worked as an academic intervention services in ELA at Middle Early College High School.
She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees, as well as her Teacher Education Institute certification from the University at Buffalo. She earned advanced certificates in School Building Leader and Teacher Quality/Leadership from Niagara University. She also holds an advanced certificate in Teaching and Leading for Diversity from the University at Buffalo.
