Two eighth graders at Amherst Middle School earned awards in the 2019 Buffalo Auto Show poster contest sponsored by the Niagara Frontier Automobile Dealers Association.
Joseph Magnano earned a first-place award in the “20/20 AutoVision/Future Car Designs” themed contest. His poster features a Ford F-150 truck traveling down Route 66. His inspiration for the design was that his dad used to drive a F-150.
Alecs Gilbert took third place for her design that features a 3-D car traveling on a road winding through the planets. Using paper and cardboard, she created the car so it was raised from the flat surface of the posterboard.
Nineteen Amherst Middle School students submitted entries in the middle school division for the 2019 design contest. Their posters were on display at the Buffalo Convention Center during the auto show Feb. 6-9. There will be an awards ceremony in March.
This is the third year in a row that Amherst Middle School students have earned awards in the auto show poster contest.
