Burlington Stores, Inc. Donates $10,000 to Windermere Elementary
Teachers at Windermere Boulevard Elementary School in Amherst received an unexpected gift that will help them purchase their classroom supplies this year.
Burlington Stores, Inc. through its partnership with AdoptAClassroom.org has donated $10,000 to Windermere Boulevard Elementary in celebration of its new store location at 3030 Sheridan Drive in the former Toys R Us building. Store Manager Danielle Alabisi presented the check.
The kindergarten to fifth-grade teachers at Windermere Boulevard Elementary will divide the donation to purchase supplies based on needs for their individual classrooms and grade-level lesson plans.
"This donation will help to support the academic needs of our students and to provide our teachers with the educational resources they need to enhance learning. We are truly grateful for this incredible gift," said Julie Flanagan, principal, Windermere Boulevard Elementary School. The check presentation was made during the school’s September 26 pep rally as a surprise announcement for teachers and students.
Windermere Boulevard was chosen because it is located within five miles of the new store location.
The funds will be disbursed online through AdoptAClassroom.org where teachers create a virtual savings account to purchase supplies for their classroom via an online marketplace with a wide range of vendors including Office Depot, Best Buy, and Scholastic.
AdoptAClassroom.org is a national non-profit located in Minnesota with a mission to help fund teachers with the financial resources to purchase the supplies needed for their classroom and students so they do not need to spend their own money. Over a 21-year period, the non-profit has disbursed more than $30 million dollars to teachers in schools across our country.
