Walmart Giving Provides Grant for WBS Theater Tickets
Literacy efforts of Windermere Boulevard first-graders got a big boost of support with a $1,550 grant from the Walmart Giving program. The grant award funded a grade-level trip for 130 students to Shea’s Performing Arts Center to see the production of Rainbow Fish.
“This trip supports student learning in the classroom and relates to curriculum around character traits, inferring and retelling of the book Rainbow Fish,” said Jessica DiCarlo, the first grade teacher who applied for the grant. “This trip also supports our social studies unit on communities and gives our students an opportunity to explore new and enriching experiences within the community which is one aspect that the community grant supports.”
The first-graders will thank the company by presenting the Sheridan Drive store location with a large poster that shares their favorite parts of the play.
