Alumni Track & Field Star, Ashley Fields, Inspires Student-Athletes
Ashley Fields, an Amherst Central High School alumni who earned national, state and local track honors and went on to earn All-America status with the women's track and field team at Baylor University, spoke to student athletes as the keynote speaker for the Amherst Central School District Athletic Kickoff.

Ashley finished her high school track career as a National Junior Olympic champion (200 meters), 2-time New York State Champion (200 meters), with a state title in the 100 meters, two Section VI records and four school records. She was named as Channel 4’s Scholar Athlete for the month of April. Ashley accepted a scholarship to Baylor University where she received a bachelor of science degree in psychology, and master of science degree in educational psychology. As a former captain of the Baylor women’s track and field team, she secured All-America status by placing seventh at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Ore. She earned numerous collegiate honors including Academic All-Big 12 First/Second Team, eight-time Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll selectee, multiple All-Big 12 Indoor/Outdoor honors and a Big 12 Champion title in the 4x400-Meter Relay.
After an appointment at Baylor University as an assistant academic coach (baseball, equestrian, and women’s golf) and site director of Zenith afterschool program in Waco, Ashley has relocated back to her native state. She is currently serving as an academic support assistant for Syracuse University’s football team.
