Competing at the New Balance Outdoor Nationals in Greensboro, N.C., Amherst Central High School junior Maxana Grubb finished fifth in the girls 800 championship with a time of 2:07.65, breaking her winning time of 2:10.84 in her Section VI 800 win. She earned a second place in the state for the 800 in the state public high schools meet in Middletown. Maxana is pictured on the awards podium (far left).
At the nationals meet, Mallory Grubb, a freshman who is the 3,200 meter Section VI champion, finished fourth in the Freshman mile meet and came in 15th in the Emerging Elite two-mile run.
