Inventors Brought to Life at Windermere
Albert Einstein and Ben Franklin were at Windermere Boulevard Elementary School telling visitors about their lives during the school's Living Museum. Einstein and Franklin were actually two fifth-graders who chose those famous inventors to research for the project. The museum activity was in conjunction with the ELA Module entitled, "Inventions that Changed People's Lives".
Each student was required to research their chosen inventor and prepare a short biography explaining how his/her invention or contribution changed people's lives. Then the students dressed as their inventor and shared the biography as if they were the inventor. Students also created props and a poster to enhance their presentation.
As visitors entered the "museum", the students were all standing quietly with their heads down. Guests were invited to push a small yellow button affixed to each student's shirt for the inventor to come alive. Once a button was pushed the student picked up their head and shared their biography from memory.
In addition to Einstein and Franklin, other inventors included Katherine Johnson, Jane Goodall, Mark Zuckerberg, Louis Braille and Tony Fadell.
