School Lunch Manager Appointed
The Amherst Central School District Board of Education appointed a School Lunch Manager at its Sept. 17 meeting. Tracey A. Ogilvie will begin working Oct. 1 to oversee the district’s food service program which provides, on average, 12,000 breakfasts and 29,000 lunches each month. She will oversee a staff of 22 food service workers at Amherst’s four school buildings.
She comes to Amherst CSD from the Kenmore-Town of Tonawanda Union Free School District where she was the assistant food service director. In that role since 2009, she was responsible for overseeing payroll, staffing, nutritional analysis of menus, supervisory tasks, catering functions, invoicing, and the processing and verification of the free and reduced meal program applications. She created standardized recipes and ensured all menus followed current guidelines. She implemented carbohydrate and calorie charts through the district’s website. She also taught staff development classes on healthy eating and imaginative recipes.
She spent several summers as a special education summer school aide for Erie 1 BOCES. Prior to that she worked as school lunch manager for several contract companies that included service to Starpoint Central School District.
She received her bachelor’s degree in food system management from Buffalo State College. She is a member of the Erie County School Food Service Association and the New York State School Nutrition Association. She volunteers with the Lothlorien Riding Center and teaches religious education classes.
She replaces Susan Sheehan who retired from the district.
