UPK Registration is Open

Amherst Central School District is currently holding Pre-Kindergarten registration for the 2020-2021 academic year. The half-day program is open to any four-year-old child that resides within the district. The child must be four by Dec. 1, 2020. Our program offers a developmentally appropriate curriculum with a focus on early literacy and mathematical skills. Other key components of the program include the social, emotional and cultural development of the child.

The program operates out of three sites – Windermere Boulevard Elementary School (291 Windermere Blvd.), Amherst Community Church Child Care Center (77 Washington Highway), and Amherst Nursery School (350 Saratoga Rd.).

Transportation is provided to and from the Windermere site only. Parents are responsible for transportation at the Amherst Community Church and Nursery School sites.

Registration forms are available at

Placements are not guaranteed because class sizes are limited. Tentative placement letters will be given to families at Pre-K registration meetings March 23 and 24. Pre-Kindergarten orientation for parents will be held Tuesday, May 5, 2020, at 6:30 p.m. at Windermere Boulevard Elementary School.

As a result of the program being funded by grants, definite confirmation will only occur after the New York State budget is passed and Universal Pre-Kindergarten funding is guaranteed. For more information about registration, call 362-4182.
