Deborah Custodi is the ECASB District Clerk Award 2021 Recipient

Award Announcement flierDeborah A. Custodi, District Clerk and Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent, is the recipient of the 2021 District Clerk Service to Education Award from the Erie County Association of School Boards.


The award recognizes a School District Clerk that has made contributions to the betterment of education or the betterment in the operations of Board of Education meetings within the district. Nominated by Superintendent Anthony Panella and the Board of Education, her efficiency, organization, knowledge and preparation supports the board throughout the year at monthly meetings and the annual budget vote and election.


“Deborah Custodi clearly understands the operations and functions of the Board of Education and has every member updated and prepared for each meeting and the meetings of affiliated committees," said Board of Education Member Jessica McLaughlin. "Her expert guidance is constantly called upon to help us during our meetings and throughout ongoing activities and decisions. I truly believe she is a major contributor that helps our board to function as a strong, cohesive group.”


Serving as district clerk for the past 10 years, her attention to detail has resulted in improvements to the BOE webpages, board packets, and board updates, as well as a number of other operations that impact board efficiency.


She shares her knowledge with district clerks across the state. As co-chair of the NYS Association of School Business Officials District Clerk Steering Committee, she has taken a leadership role to plan meetings for the School Business Management Workshop (SBMW). She acts as a liaison for presenters, develops content, delivers presentations and serves as a resource for clerks across New York State.


Board Vice President Jeanne Ernst says Ms. Custodi goes above and beyond to make sure the board has what they need ahead of any meetings. “We are a more efficient board because we do not have to worry about being prepared for meetings. She does it for us and she does it well,” she said.
