School Lunch Heroes are Celebrated!

Four women in kitchenSince September, the food service staff at Amherst Central School District has distributed more than 57,246 breakfast and lunches for remote learners. They are truly the heroes in our district to prepare and provide meals for our students and Friday, May 7 was a day devoted to them. The first Friday in May is School Lunch Hero Day, dedicated to those men and women who make the cafeterias and the schools a better place to be. It was started several years ago, based on the graphic novel by Jarrett J. Krosoczka, creator of the Lunch Lady graphic novels.
"My food service staff are a team of dedicated professionals who take great pride in their job!" said Tracey Ogilvie, School Lunch Director at Amherst Central School District. "They have adjusted to the many changes in school food service over the past 13 months to ensure all of our students are able to receive breakfast and lunch. They are all my heroes!"
