Steven’s Spirit of Giving Donates Meals to Daily Bread Food Truck
Steven's Spirit Of Giving, a non-profit organization created by the family of Steven A. Daniels (ACHS ‘90), is donating 200 meals this month to the Daily Bread Food Truck for distribution to Amherst families. There were 100 meals available on Saturday, Dec. 11 from 9-11 a.m. and another 100 meals on Thursday, Dec. 23 from 3-5 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 4007 Main Street.
On Dec. 11, the menu was a Tortellini Alfredo and a Penne al Forno meal, courtesy of a chef from Ilio DiPaolo's restaurant who is donating his time and skills to create the meals. Pickup is between 9-11 a.m. On Dec. 23, a holiday themed menu will be available between 3-5 p.m.
Gail Daniels, president of Steven's Spirit Of Giving Inc. and Steven’s mother, said the idea to donate the meals came to her because her son loved to cook, was confirmed at St. Paul’s and also cut the lawn there in his teenage years. The non-profit holds many fundraising activities to help those in need and produces a quarterly newsletter highlighting volunteerism and the goodness of others. The group's activities and donations are inspired by the many acts of kindness that Steven did throughout his life.
The Daily Bread Food Truck also distributes free meals every Monday during the winter from 4:30 - 6 p.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The menu on Dec. 20 by Carrabba’s Italian Grill.
