Registration for the Amherst Central School District universal pre-kindergarten program for the 2022-2023 academic year will open on Feb. 7. Apply online at www.amherstschools.org/upk on or after Feb. 7.
The half-day program is open to children who are four years old by Dec. 1, 2022 and reside in the district. A morning and afternoon session is offered from two locations: Windermere Boulevard Elementary School at 291 Windermere Boulevard and Amherst Community Church Child Care Center at 77 Washington Highway. Transportation is provided to and from the Windermere site only. Parents are responsible for transportation at ACCCCC.
ACCCCC has wrap-around childcare available for families that is self-pay. This means you can have your child attend daycare there and the 2.5 hour UPK portion of the day is free. Wrap-care spots are limited and are separate from the UPK program. Contact Andrea O’Hern, ACCCCC Director, at 834-9701 for more information about childcare.
UPK placements are not guaranteed because class sizes are limited. Tentative placement letters (site and time specific only) will be sent to families in mid-March 2022, with classroom and teacher confirmations sent out in August 2022.
As a result of the program being funded by grants, definite confirmation will occur only after the New York State budget is passed and UPK funding is guaranteed.
