Full-Day UPK to be Offered at Amherst Central School District in 2022-23 School Year

Amherst Central School District has been awarded additional state funding to support the implementation of Full-Day Universal Pre-Kindergarten for the 2022-23 school year.

This additional funding allows the district to establish four full-day UPK classes with two classes at Smallwood Drive Elementary from 8 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and two classes at Windermere Boulevard Elementary from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Enrollment in each full-day class will be capped at 18 students. If there are more students than spots available in a selected class, a random lottery will take place. Transportation will be provided to the full-day programs at Smallwood and Windermere.

The district-run UPK program will offer one half-day morning class at Amherst Nursery School from 9:15-11:45 a.m.and five half-day classes at Amherst Community Church Child Care Center, with morning sessions from 9-11:30 a.m. and afternoon sessions from 12:30-3 p.m. Parents are responsible for transportation to the half-day programs.

Registration is completed online. All information is posted on the registration webpages. For more information, contact Karen Redding, PreK Coordinator, at 362-4184 or kredding@amherstschools.org.
