Ryan Rogers Named Assistant Director of Special Education and Pupil Personnel Services
The Amherst Central School District Board of Education appointed Ryan Rogers as its new assistant director of special education. He begins work on March 6. Mr. Rogers replaces Patrick Kapperman who was appointed assistant principal at Amherst Central High School.
He comes to Amherst CSD with a broad range of experience as a special education teacher and leader within the Cheektowaga Central School District.
Since 2019, he has been a special education integrated co-teaching/consultant teacher for grades 2-4 at Union East Elementary School. During that time, he also served in several leadership capacities as the second grade team leader, the CSE Chairperson for K-12, the 504 coordinator, and as a member of the district safety committee and the student support team.
Previous positions have included special education teacher for the 6-1-2 autism class for grades kindergarten to second grade at Union East and prior to that he was a special education teacher for the 8-1-1 behavioral classes for grades 5-8 at Pine Hill Education Center.
He was a teacher on special assignment, summer school principal and administrative intern with the Cheektowaga CSD.
He earned an advanced certification in educational leadership and a master’s degree in childhood education in grades 1-6, both from Canisius College. He earned a bachelor’s degree in physical education from SUNY Brockport.
