Amy Steger Named Director of Curriculum and Instruction

director of curriculum and instructionThe Amherst Central School District Board of Education appointed Windermere Boulevard Elementary School Assistant Principal Amy Steger as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction, a new district position created to support the important curriculum and instructional work done in the office of Dr. Lynn Shanahan, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction and Technology. In this new role, Mrs. Steger will work closely with Dr. Shanahan and faculty at all buildings.

Mrs. Steger has been assistant principal at Windermere since July 1, 2019 and she will begin her new duties on July 1, 2023. The search for her replacement as assistant principal will begin immediately.

She came to our district from the Eden Central School District where she had been a special education teacher for 10 years. She was a National Board for Professional Teaching Standards national fellow in 2018. She holds a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in education in differentiated instruction from St. Bonaventure University. She earned a master’s degree in educational leadership from the University at Buffalo. She holds certifications as New York State School Building Leader and New York State School District Leader. Her professional teaching certifications are in students with disabilities birth – 6 years; early childhood education birth to 2; childhood education grades 1-6 and gifted extension K-12.
